Check this out, see. My kid's Arabic tutor has 2 girls. I tutor her kids in English, Math and Science while she tutors my kid in Islam, Arabic and Qur-an. This year she pulls her kids out of the crappy bilingual school they were in and puts them in government school, which is even worse as far as English is concerned. They literally give KG and 1st grade work in 4th grade. Also, their cursive is completely jacked up.
Anyways, the mother politely tells me she is counting on me to educate her girls, grades 6 and 4, as if they were in an American school, like my kid is in. She expects them to be able to take placement exams for 5th and 7th grades next year at any bilingual or American school and pass. I was like Sure! No Prob! You can count on me!
Inside, I was like OMFG. Yes, I can do what I said I would do, but the work involved in unbelievable. For starters, because those girls went to the school they did they're, like, 2 years behind where they should be. To get them caught up AND teach them their current grade level is a job requiring more than the 3 days a week that I plan on going there. It will require lots of research an hard-work on both my part and the girls. I'm going to have them humping, for sure, but.....help?!
*Sigh*. I'll just have to do the best I can.
