A Glimpse

Well, somebody gave my bootleg Angel hasad. Until hubby gets it replaced, I have decided to put a little of my two favorite series on here for your reading pleasure. Let's start with buffy, shall we?

The show's basic plot is that there is a Slayer. Vampire slayer, actually, but she kills all sorts of demons. Anyways, every generation, one girl in all the world is chosen by powers outside her control for this calling. This time it was Buffy Anne Summers, former cheerleader and flighty bimbo. Slayers have supernatural strength, speed, fighting prowess and healing powers. They are also privy to prophetic dreams. Slayers are called young, generally in their early teens, as witnessed by Buffy's calling at the age of 15. A new Slayer is activated only when the previous one dies. Needless to say they all die pretty young, given their violent lifestyles. Each slayer has a Watcher who teaches her how to hone her fighting prowess and refine her skills. This whole Slayer thing goes back thousands of years to the first Slayer who was made somewhere in Africa.

This story takes place in the mythical town of Sunnydale, California. The town is situated on a Hellmouth, a source of mystical energy. Also, it's the mouth of hell, so all sorts of demons gravitate there. The characters, with the exception of Angel, all attend Sunnydale Highschool. Giles poses as the librarian there while training Buffy in all her Slayer duties. Ok, now for the main characters.

Here's Buffy as she looked in Season 1. I have to say, she was pretty green, both as an actress and a Slayer. The show really didn't hit its stride till Season 2.

This is Buffy as she looked in Season 4. She lost all her baby fat. By this time the show was a hell of a lot more interesting and exciting, too.

This is Giles, Buffy's Watcher. All Watchers are part of the Watcher's Council in England, so this dude was British. He and Buffy sort of had a father/daughter relationship since Buffy's dad skipped out on her and her mom.

This is Willow Rosenberg, Buffy's good friend. Starting during the middle of the second season, Willow starts messing with witchcraft and the dark arts. She becomes quite the accomplished wicca by the end of the series. This is what she looked like in Season 4.

Here's what Willow looked like in Season 3.

This is Willow in Season 1. By the time the 5th and 6th seasons rolled around she looked such a sight better. Her clothes and hair were way cooler.

Here's Cordelia Chase. Rich Bitch and snobby person who goes to their highschool. Once she finds out about Buffy's gig and all the demons and whatnot, she becomes a reluctant ally. The woman has no idea what the word 'tact' means.

This is Xander Harris. He has no powers. He's a goof ball, if a brave one. He has a major crush on Buffy and has known Willow since they were babies. He's part of the gang and helps out when he's not unconscious from a blow to the head.

And here we have Angel. Vampire with a soul, trying to make amends for his past. He's in love with Buffy, and she with him. Only problem is, due to the nature of his special curse, he can't experience any happiness or he'll lose his soul and become Angelus again, killer of just about everything that moves. When he and Buffy got all intimate in the second season, he did just that, tormenting the gang and killing off their friends. Then Willow re-ensouled him with a spell. But when he's not Angelus, he's a powerful asset to the gang.

Here ARE the core gang members, sans Giles. I'll post supporting characters of Buffy in a different post. I think this photo is from Season two. I recognize the haircuts.
